IOS is more secure than ANDROID

Having successfully overcome the malware "DroidDream" very disturbing in March last, it turns out android remains a target of other malicious malware attacks. McAfee reported a number of malware that infects Android devices during the third quarter grew almost 37 percent from the second quarter.

Some malicious applications are found by MacAfee on Android include: malware called GPS Spy, or TapSnake, this malware uses a GPS device to send someone to a third party site. As another example, malware authors can exploit the weaknesses of mobile phone operating system to control the camera or microphone to spy on users. McAfee has detected a Trojan that is capable of recording telephone conversations and send the recordings to third parties.

IOS and Android are both open source-based system, this situation in the vulnerable to the insertion of malware attacks to the system and delay in handling.

One reason is more secure than Android IOS is because Apple limits users to download applications. IOS only device owners can download the application through Apple's App Store or via Mobile Device Management to exercise control over Apple's devices in their organization. But even Mobile Device Management requires approval from Apple for the control did.

While Android is more open in terms of software distribution. Openness is at risk of intervention from a third party. While Google to exercise control over the Android Market, but users can still download Android applications from third-party sites with ease, which may not have a good security system in the user's device. Furthermore, because the Android operating system is more fragmented, it may involve many programmers are often related to modify security features. Though this approach requires an update on the operating system and the time to reach out to Android users.

In his report, McAfee saw a different approach between Apple and Google in the fight against malware. Apple's approach is considered more proactive and focused on prevention. while Google seems to be more motivated in the creation of applications to handle the problems that occur. With Google this reactive way, may be a reasonable step to produce a variety of applications in large numbers, but from a security perspective creates a comfortable environment for malware gangs to carry out the action.

This situation seems to be a positive motivation for developers to further enhance security and convenience in developing the operating system. As for the users should remain vigilant in the use of offers from various online services available, may also restrict their use of only authorized and trusted sites.
